About Your Visit

How long are the visits, and how are they conducted?

Your initial evaluation with My Psychiatric Partner includes both the initial 30-minute video conferencing (webcam) visit and an in-person physical office visit with your clinician, if required. Each follow-up visit after that is 15-minutes long, and can be conducted either by telephone or webcam.

How do I schedule and pay for my telepsychiatry visit?

You have the convenience of choosing your own visit time online, and one is usually available within a week. Simply click on “Make An Appointment,” choose a clinician, then a date and time that fits into your schedule and you will be guided through the secure, online Square payment processing.

How is my appointment confirmed?

You will immediately receive an automated email confirmation from My Psychiatric Partner after you have paid for and scheduled your visit. Another email reminder will be sent before your appointment. However, it’s always a good idea to also mark your appointment date and time down on your calendar.

What will I need for my first appointment?

For your first appointment, we require our patients to meet with the clinician by webcam. All you’ll need is a computer with a webcam and internet connection, and to have a telephone available in case we have trouble hearing each other through the computer.  For your follow-up appointments, you may choose to meet either by webcam again, or by telephone alone.

What will my first appointment be like?

During your first appointment, your clinician will get to know you better by taking a complete history and listening carefully to your symptoms and concerns.  Then your clinician will discuss your diagnosis with you and go over treatment recommendations, discuss any problems or concerns, and discuss next steps in your care.

Will I be prescribed medication during my first visit?

Depending on your clinician’s assessment of your symptoms, yes, a medication may be recommended. Non-controlled medications would be able to be called in to your local pharmacy for pick up. However, if a controlled medication being suggested, an in-person physical visit would be required before your clinician is allowed to prescribe it to you.

What if I have issues or a reaction to my medication?

For emergency issues, please go to the closest emergency room for treatment. For non-emergent issues, you may contact our Nurse On Call. Simply email us your question, and the nurse will promptly get back to you with the appropriate answer.  If you would rather contact us by phone, please call 855-677-1677 and select the option for the nurse.

Will My Psychiatric Partner’s clinicians fill out disability forms?

No, we do not fill out any type of disability forms.  My Psychiatric Partner clinician’s goal is to help you feel better and regain your functioning as quickly as possible. We are certainly willing to provide our documentation about your condition and treatment to your primary care provider if it would be helpful for them to assist you with such matters.

How do I know if telepsychiatry is right for me?
